If you are looking for a more relaxed cliff bar and restaurant and feel too crowed at Rick's Cafe - check out LTU Cliff Bar and Restaurant.
The establishment is located on the same volcanic cliff rock as Rick's Cafe, but is much smaller and off the beaten path. During the day, the bar and restaurant offers authentic Jamaican food at a reasonable cost.
And the LTU Cliff Bar and Restaurant offers a unique way of splashing into the Caribbean via a stone cut staircase. As you decend the staircase you will see large, flat boulder where you lay a towel down to sunbath or watch the incredible sunsets of Negril.
During the day this is a great spot to fish. We met up with Arnold, a Welshman who is vacationing in Negril for two months who is here to fish.
"I've got snapper and barracuda," he explains. "You don't need a license and you can either grill it yourself or take it to a restaurant and they can do it. If you don't know what it is, or have questions about the fish, best to ask a Rasta."
He quietly fishes as we get ready to dive in to see the fish from below. The LTU Cliff Bar and Restaurant has amazing snorkelling right off the boulders. The fish are attracted to the deeper water and the cliff rocks. When jumping in you are literally surrounded by thousands, if not tens of thousands of fish from small angel fish to large barracuda. Hiding in a particular spot we noted a mean looking Moray Eel.
There is no life guard on duty and it is highly recommend you go in groups and wear life jackets. The waves are usually manageable. There is not cost to snorkel here.
After swimming, sunbathing, stargazing, sunset watching or snorkelling, grab a Red Stripe from the bar or grab some home-made sea-food dishes.
The LTU Cliff Bar and Restaurant also have on-site accommodations if you would like to stay for more than just the day. Formerly Catcha Falling Star Gardens, LTU Garden is a family owned and operated business located on the West End Road across from the LTU Cliff, formally LTU Pub.
