We always made a point to visit the Grizzly Paw Pub in Canmore, Alberta on our way to explore or returning from Banff or Canmore's hiking and mountain adventures.
Recently, however, we discovered something new (at least for us!) and it is our favourite restaurant in Canmore - Tank310 - a restaurant owned and operated on site at the Grizzly Paw Brewing Company. The restaurant and craft brewery are gifted with panoramic views of the Three Sisters, Ha Ling Peak and Mount Rundle that can be enjoyed inside on the 2nd floor or on the 3rd floor patio!
Using only local, fresh, cold mountain water and Alberta grown, 2 Row Barley, the beers have consistently held to an uncompromising level of quality, freshness and flavour. There are many seasonal brews added each month!
Powder Hound Blonde Ale
A light and sweet straw coloured blonde ale with just a kiss of hop character, this clean and refreshing beer is perfect for the patio any time of year.
Rutting Elk Red
A medium bodied Scottish style red ale, this beer has a rich malty flavor with layers of chocolate & roasted malts and just enough English hops for balance.
Grumpy Bear Honey Wheat
A pale golden light bodied and sweet easy drinking ale with a touch of honey flavor. If the beer list has you a bit overwhelmed, this is a great place to start.
Beavertail Raspberry Ale
A pink hued unfiltered wheat ale made with loads of real whole raspberries. A combination of malt sweetness and raspberry tartness make for a very refreshing and light beer.
Rundlestone Session Ale
This pale & light bodied beer has IPA characteristics in an easy and approachable lower alcohol package. Bright, citrus hop character is supported by a light crystal malt backbone and a clean bitter finish.
Three Sisters Pale Ale
Your prayers have been answered. A delicious, fruity pale ale has risen from the clear waters of the Bow River and anointed you with heavenly beer bliss. Salvation is one sip away.
This balanced golden copper coloured IPA has a big hop aroma of citrus and passionfruit which combines with resinous and pine hop flavors leading to a softly bitter finish. This is the clear choice for hop-heads!
Big Head Nut Brown
A medium bodied, mahogany coloured ale with sweet and complex malt flavors of nuts and chocolate balanced by a classic mild English hop profile.
We all need a squeeze from time to time don't we? Grizzly Paw handcrafted Bitter Lemon Soda, natural lemon juice and Gin lovingly compressed into a compact little package. Ready to embrace at will.
Grizzly Paw’s take on the Greyhound cocktail using our HandCrafted Grapefruit Soda. Expertly Blended With Alberta Vodka & Mountain Water.
Grizzly Paw’s take on the classic mule cocktail using our recognized hand crafted ginger beer in the ultimate combination with Alberta made vodka. Conveniently available in a 4 pack of cans for any adventure you encounter.
There’s simply nothing like it. The Grizzly Paw Root Beer is our flagship, handcrafted soda. Our recipe was created to mirror what Root Beer would have tasted like in the days of Prohibition. Light, refreshing, and slow brewed for maximum flavour, we source our flavouring out of the Southern United States, where they know what a good root beer should taste like. Currently available in 341 ml glass bottle 4-packs.
Traditionally, Ginger Beer was the original mix in a Shandy (beer and ginger beer). It's showing up in cocktail bars all over the place in drinks like Dark and Stormys, and Moscow Mules. We’ll drink to that! Currently available in 341 ml glass bottle 4-packs in many retail outlets. It’s also on tap at the Grizzly Paw Pub and Tank310.
Black Cherry Cola
Absolutely Fabulous! If you like the taste of cola, imagine it infused with the rich, fruitiness of black cherries. Black Cherry Cola is one of the most popular flavours. Currently available in 341 ml glass bottle 4-packs.
Grizzly Light Cola
Introducing Grizzly LIGHT Cola! Made with 100% stevia and mountain freshwater. This new and delicious drink comes in at only 5 calories! Currently available in 341 ml glass bottles at selected retails across Alberta and retail shops in Canmore.
A taste of yesteryear! And don’t expect that garish pink whatever! Our Cream Soda comes in its all-natural, reddish brown colour, the only real colour a Cream Soda should be. Currently available in 341 ml glass bottle 4-packs in many retail outlets or in 12-packs at the brewery. It’s also on tap at the Grizzly Paw Pub and Microbrewery.
Try our amazing Grapefruit soda… tangy and not too sweet, just perfectly refreshing. It just may be the best accompaniment to a picnic lunch on a hot sunny day… in fact any type of day. Currently available in 341 ml glass bottle 4-packs.
Orange Cream Soda
Remember those hot, sunny days when you could sink your teeth into that heavenly blend of orange Popsicle and creamy vanilla ice cream? We do too. That’s why our Orange Cream Soda tastes just like that! Full orange flavour with a singularly creamy finish. Currently available in 341 ml glass bottle 4-packs.
The Grizzly Paw Pub, Downtown Canmore
The Grizzly Paw Pub and Micro-brewery serves up delicious traditional fare such as domestic and exotic, hand made burgers, salads, fish and chips, and a smoked brisket sandwich that's to die for. They are family friendly, so grab the kids and treat them to a hand-made soda!
Embracing the craft beer culture the executive chef at Tank310 has developed an approachable menu featuring Alberta beef, forno fired flatbreads, seasonally fresh salads along with savoury classics. The menu is designed to pair well with Blonde Ales, Full bodied IPAs, Innovative Lagers or our Signature Barrel finished beers. Enjoy a tank to table experience fresh from the taps. The full menu can be found here.
We were delighted to find a new favourite restaurant in Canmore as our adventures take us into Canmore and the mountain parks often. And we were excited because we have already had great meals and drinks at the downtown Grizzly Paw Pub location.
We started off with a round of flights ($10 each) and every selection was absolutely delicious but our favourite was the Seasonal Bourbon Barrel Aged Scotch Ale. MY GAWD was it good. We ordered more of it and got our appetite working.
We ordered a Hanger Steak ($32) that came with cauliflower puree and grilled asparagus. It was marinated for 24 hours previous and tasted absolutely perfect.
Next we had a brisket sandwich ($20) served with a garden salad and fruit. The sandwich was mouth-watering and the salad was again, perfection. This special also allowed for a free pint of beer! Awesome! More beer!
To end the meal we indulged in Peach Cobbler that was made fresh and piping hot!
From the incredible service to the best beers to the perfection in food in terms of presentation and taste - Tank310 is our favourite mountain restaurant, not only in Canmore, but in all of Western Canada!
Yes, it is that good.
