This is a local's secret place for excellent breakfasts and quick lunches and is one of the best breakfast diners in the United States.
As Denny's and other fast-food chains litter the Interstates and attach themselves to hotels and roadside motels, these little diners are getting harder to find. Mom and Pop style, with home-cooked meals. Waitresses that don't mind a quick chat and loads and loads of locals ready to tell you about their fabulous city.
The Original Pancake House in Boise, Idaho is just one of these gems. The entrance way seems dull, and the interior is practical. But then you start to notice the retro-vibe of the logo that is displayed on mugs and menus.
Coffee comes piping hot in just a mug - ceramic and contoured for either sips or giant gulps.
The food here is amazing and as the name suggests, it is a pancake house - so any pancake is available including potato (it is Idaho....of course there is going to be potato pancakes!)
There is also bacon pancakes, Hawaiian pancakes, Macadamia Nut pancakes and even Swedish Pancakes. But if you are not into pancakes you can always grab a crepe, an omelette or other breakfast plate. Everything is delicious and portions are huge! Just like an old-fashioned neighbourhood diner - you won't leave until full!
