The Gran Ventana Beach Resort is a upgraded, spacious, 506-room, all-inclusive beach resort on the golden sands of Playa Dorada in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.
This wonderful beach resort offers a distinctive blend of sophisticated design combined with the charm and hospitality of the Dominican Republic. The hotel is situated within the Playa Dorada Tourist Complex, the largest and most complete tourist development in Dominican Republic and just a block away from the Playa Dorada Commercial Center, which has the some of the best bars and discos in the Puerto Plata area.
Downtown Puerto Plata is just minutes away and the resort is just 300 yards from the Playa Dorada Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones.
The hotel complex is a medium-size with all rooms having excellent access to the beach and pools. Rooms are arranged into three distinct three-story colonial inspired villages with lush, green lawns, fragrant tropical gardens, fifty-foot palm trees and wonderful sea views.
Each Puerto Plata hotel room and suite features a spacious balcony or terrace and select rooms offer uninterrupted ocean views.
From the privacy and tranquility of the more secluded Beata Wing to the livelier Catalina and Saona clusters, there are villages for those seeking quiet, or those seeking family fun.
Gran Ventana Beach Resort has a diverse array of all-inclusive restaurants. From an elegant gourmet Caribbean restaurant with a warm, hospitable style to a casual poolside café, an al fresco beachfront grill you are sure to find flavourful dishes.
The Gran Ventana has a all-you-can-eat buffet that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. Food is good but the rotation is slow and sometimes the food is very repetitive. The resort is putting an effort into increasing food service quality and we expect these changes to be made as more recent reviews say the food is above average for most resorts.
The Gran Ventana also has three restaurants that you can reserve when you first check in. The first restaurant, Octopus, features Carribean food in an elegant setting. The food here is above average.
The other restaurant is Sapore di Mare, an Italian-themed restaurant. As is typical at most Caribbean resorts, Italian food seems to miss the mark and we recommend that you choose Octopus over this option.
The third restaurant is the Ocean Grill which offers grilled seafood and more. Nestled between the beach and the resort’s lush gardens and lawns, Ocean Grill is the ideal spot for casual dining with marvellous ocean views. Enjoy an enticing variety of fresh grilled meats, fish and seafood prepared to your preference.
The Ocean Grill also doubles as a snack restaurant during the day offering quick snacks and drinks for those relaxing on the beach.
