Viva Wyndham Tangerine, Cabarete Dominican Republic Review
Updated: Sep 28, 2020
Viva Wyndham Tangerine is an all-inclusive family oriented resort right on the beautiful Cabarete Beach in the Dominican Republic.
Here you will find true island paradise with an amazing beach that caters to those who like waves. You will sit on the silky, smooth sand and watch world-champion kite surfers and boogie boarders ride the white capped waves.

The Viva Wyndham Tangerine offers 276 plush guest rooms and suites feature charming island décor and breathtaking beach or landscape views from the private balconies and terraces. With a mix of comfort, convenience, and Caribbean adventure, it’s easy to see why we’re a popular destination for couples, families, and adrenaline seekers. Plus, kids 12 and under eat, play, and stay for free.
The hotel features two pools with endless activities for the entire family. We decided to take in the free scuba diving lessons in the larger pool and then later booked an excursion to dive with a variety of sea-life.
Other activities offered are adrenaline-pumping kiteboarding and windsurfing lessons and don't forget the Boogie Boards are free to use and is a blast to ride the waves weather you are a child or an adult. There is an onsite tennis court as well as a fitness centre for those looking to stay in shape after taking in the all-you-can-eat buffets.
For those less inclined to high adventure there is an onsite spa that offers a variety of massages and treatments. Prices are reasonable for a hotel spa.
There is a variety of dining options at Viva Wyndham Tangerine including:
La Bahia
Enjoy a delicious assortment of global cuisine virtually any time of day, no reservations required. This bountiful buffet and snack service is part of the resort’s all-inclusive plan. The buffet style offered a variety of different meals but the food rotation seems to replicate on about day four.
Vive Mexico
Delight in traditional Mexican appetizers, entrées, and side dishes, served in a festive atmosphere with amazing ocean views. The Mexican dishes were fairly good and plentiful.
To secure your dinner spot, make a reservation at the guest service desk.
La Vela
Savor Italian specialties like pizzas and pastas. We found the food here to be similar to those offered at the main buffet. The Pizza and Pastas were identical, so we recommend you skip this restaurant unless you want a sit-down meal with service. This restaurant requires a reservation.
Melt
A fusion specialty à la carte restaurant, Melt combines favorite international tastes into new and creative specialties. Meals are served by an international staff. Casual attire is appropriate but reservations are required.
Not only is Viva Wyndham Tangerine on a dream-inspired beach, it is near all the adventure.
Check out the fascinating coral reefs and aquatic life on a scuba diving or snorkelling expedition in Sosua, one of the premier dive sites along the North Coast. Swim with the dolphins at Ocean World adventure park and take an aerial tram to the top of Mount Isabel de Torres to admire the stunning panoramic views. Don’t miss a visit to Zona Colonial, the oldest permanent European settlement of the New World, featuring stunning architecture and lots of shops, restaurants, and nightlife activities.
Activities & Tours Near Viva Wyndham Tangerine, Cabarete Dominican Republic:
One of the best adventures we ever had during an all-inclusive beach vacation was visiting the 27 waterfalls of Damajagua. It is very adventuresome with swimming, diving and sliding down a narrow gorge with fast moving water all within the canopy of a Caribbean jungle.
We also recommend the Scuba Diving Excursion as well as the 4-Wheel Adventure were you get to see the country-side via ATVs.
We also decided to ask a local to take us on a tour of the local town of Puerto Plata where we visited a local shop, toured an old Cathedral and took an aerial tram to the top of Mount Isabel de Torres. We then hit a local beach away from the tourists that was amazing. Here we grabbed roasted chicken and potatoes from a local vendor and had a wonderful picnic.
On tours and even on our own with our guide we felt very safe. On the secluded beach our guide even left us alone, stating we were fine. No one harassed us, begged us for money or even tried selling us trinkets. If you are worried about you how safe it is to visit the Dominican Republic, check out our blog post:
